What differentiates Ahlul-Bayt Collective from other platforms?
Our mission is to curate a safe space for Shia Muslims to share their creative work, build a network, and spread their love for the Ahlul-Bayt. This platform focuses on publishing and spotlighting Shia creatives which has not been done before. For once, our youth can think of Shias who are cinematographers, poets, educators, and bakers. It’s difficult to find a space where Muslims can openly share their love for the Ahlul-Bayt without fear of discrimination or hate and we aim to dissuade the negative narrative we consistently have seen in mainstream media.
What am I able to submit?
We accept almost everything. From op-eds to cooking videos, the list is endless. Your work is not required to be Islamic work because this platform is made to promote Shia creatives and the work of allies, not solely the religion. Our acceptance process does follow religious guidelines, so please be mindful of what you submit. You are always welcome to check in with one of the head editors if you have questions on a piece you’d like to submit!
What are workshops?
The workshops page entails slideshows and infographics about prevalent topics to educate the youth. These files can also be used by organizations to enlighten their communities. From promoting mental health awareness to understanding the Shia identity, we are eager to share our upcoming projects.
Is there an age limit for people that can submit?
Age is not a marker to judge your submissions; we only care about promoting your talent.
What is not allowed on the website?
We will not be accepting anything that showcases: profanity, nudity, music, songs, dance, and recitations. We will, however, be accepting spoken word poetry.
What is your vision for the future?
From curating a monthly newsletter to constructing a general team of regional representatives working under us, we have an endless list of exciting projects and opportunities coming to you very soon.
Inshallah we hope to grow and create a strong global network as well as compile a comprehensive resource list for Shia Muslims everywhere.
